# Create a Promotion in B2C Commerce

To create product, shipping, and order promotions, the overall steps are the same, but with different rule specifications.

Follow these basic instructions to create a promotion. We recommend you [configure promotion preferences](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_configuring_promotion_preferences.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Configure many of the promotion settings as site preferences, giving you much flexibility in how your promotions are handled. These settings include Buy X/Get Y promotion behavior, discount precision, and how the tax basis is calculated for line items with discounts.") and check out before starting. After you've completed your promotion, add it to a campaign or A/B test. Keep in mind when viewing your promotions that a promotion belonging to a disabled campaign still shows an enabled flag. When running multiple promotions at the same time, use [compatibility and ranking](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_promotion_priority_rules.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Promotion priority rules exist to prevent unpredictable or undesirable effects when multiple promotions are applicable for a basket. These rules are hardcoded but you can adjust certain promotion attributes, such as exclusivity and rank, to manipulate promotions application. B2C Commerce doesn't evaluate all sequences of promotions. The sequencing resulting from prioritization doesn't always provide the best value to shoppers.") to prevent undesirable combinations.

1. Click App Launcher ![App Launcher](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-cc-b2c_merchandiser_administrator-264-0-0-production-enus/ea76f372-6cfa-42a6-8e7c-05c6df7abed8/cc/b2c_merchandiser_administrator/images/appLauncher.png), and then select **Merchant Tools** | **site** | **Online Marketing** | **Promotions**.

To perform standard actions such as opening the selection in a new tab or window, right-click the entry. To turn on or turn off products or globally excluded products, click **More**.
2. Click **New**.
3. Complete the fields on the Promotions page, which includes general details, compatibility and exclusivity configuration.
4. To manage product exclusions and option exclusions, and import and export of promotion files, click **More** on the main Promotions page.
5. To turn on a promotion-based search on the storefront, set **Searchable** to Yes.

This setting makes the promotion eligible for addition to the product search index, so shoppers can find and filter products by an active promotion.
6. In the Promotion Rule section, specify the promotion class and enter the required information.
7. Click **Apply** beneath the Promotion class section.
8. Configure promotion preferences.
9. After you finish configuring the promotion, add it to a campaign, and configure an A/B test.

Note Promotions and campaigns have their own enabled setting. If you enable a promotion but its parent campaign is disabled, the promotion remains enabled in Business Manager, but it's inactive because the campaign is disabled.
10. To delete specific promotions, select them and click **Delete**.
