# Coupon Considerations for B2C Commerce

Review these guidelines as you implement coupons for your B2C Commerce storefront.

## Plan the Use of Coupons

- Identify when you want to use coupons.
- Define the coupons that you want to offer for a promotion.
- Decide who is responsible for creating, reviewing, and testing them.
- Define type, quantity, and restrictions for each coupon.
- Decide how to populate your site with coupons, during development or when the site is live.
- Determine whether to export order data including coupon redemption data to your order management system and how to format it.

## Design

- Include coupon messaging in wireframe development.
- Provide for coupon messaging in the shopping cart.

## Build Phase

Build code to support your coupon requirements.

## Development and Testing

To facilitate development and testing:

- Create users with permissions that are in line with merchant-defined business processes.
- Create an initial set of test promotions and coupons. Be sure to include coupon types planned for use in the future, not just coupons going live initially.
- Test the import and export processes, if applicable.
