# Set Targeting Rules for a Content Block

Control when and to whom a B2C Commerce content block is visible by adding it to a campaign or promotion, or by applying custom targeting rules.

To set targeting rules, your role must include the Manage\_All\_Libraries functional permission in the organization context, or Manage\_Site\_Library in the context of the site.

Each content block supports one top-level targeting rule. A new targeting rule replaces any existing rule on the content block. To apply targeting rules to multiple content blocks at once, see [Apply Bulk Actions to Content Blocks](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_cb_bulk_actions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Select multiple B2C Commerce content blocks and apply targeting or scheduling rules to all of them at once. Bulk actions reduce the time required to manage seasonal campaigns and sitewide content updates.").

Set targeting for a content block from the Content Blocks module or from Page Designer when the content block is selected on a page.

1. click App Launcher ![App Launcher](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-cc-b2c_merchandiser_administrator-264-0-0-production-enus/ea76f372-6cfa-42a6-8e7c-05c6df7abed8/cc/b2c_merchandiser_administrator/images/appLauncher.png), and then select **Merchant Tools** | **site** | **Content** | **Content Blocks**.
2. Find and click the content block that you want to target.
3. Click the **Targeting** tab.
4. Select a targeting method:
    - **Add to Campaign** — Assign the content block to an existing [campaign](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_campaigns_and_promotions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "In the Business Manager Online Marketing module, create campaigns and A/B tests that act as wrappers, containing experiences that include promotions, content slots, and sorting rules. Slot configurations and sorting rules, however, don't require assignment to campaigns or A/B tests to take effect. Slot configurations can be scheduled outside the context of an A/B test. A default sorting rule can be set for a category in a storefront catalog outside the context of a campaign or A/B test."). The campaign determines the schedule and customer group targeting.
    - **Add to Promotion** — Assign the content block to an existing [promotion](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_campaigns_and_promotions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "In the Business Manager Online Marketing module, create campaigns and A/B tests that act as wrappers, containing experiences that include promotions, content slots, and sorting rules. A default sorting rule can be set for a category in a storefront catalog outside the context of a campaign or A/B test."). The promotion determines the schedule and customer group targeting.
    - **Custom Targeting** — Configure custom targeting rules, including schedule (start and end date and time), [customer group](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_creating_a_customer_group.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create and edit customer groups and assign customers to them for marketing."), and target locale. The times correspond to the timezone of your site.
5. Configure the targeting details based on the method you selected.
6. Click **Apply**.
7. Click **Save**.
