# Ask Questions About Shared Metrics and Dashboards in Slack Using Tableau Agent

When an agent based on the Analytics and Visualization template is installed and enabled in Slack, you can use Tableau Agent to ask questions and dive deeper into your shared Tableau Next metric and dashboard data.

### Required Editions

To use Tableau Agent in Slack:

- Salesforce and Slack must be connected.
- Tableau Next and Slack integration must be enabled.
- Tableau Agent needs to be set up in Salesforce and Slack.
- A Tableau Next metric or dashboard has been shared to Slack.

There are two ways to engage the agent:

- Click **Ask Agentforce for Analytics** in a metrics card or dashboard that has been shared in Slack.
- Mention the agent name in a thread about a shared metric or dashboard in Slack.

To ask questions in Slack:

1. In Slack, open a metric or dashboard shared from Tableau Next.
2. In the metrics card or dashboard menu, click **Ask Agentforce for Analytics**.
    1. Enter a question in the Agentforce panel. For example, "Break down total sales this quarter by product family."
3. Or, in a Slack thread that includes a shared metric or dashboard, enter the @ symbol and the agent name, for example @Analytics and Visualization. Enter a question after the mentioned agent, for example: "@Analytics and Visualization Break down total sales by product family for this year." If the named agent isn't in the channel, click **Add Them**.
    1. The agent responds with a preview of the response to let you decide if you want to share it. Click **Share in Thread** to reveal the response in the thread.
        
        Note that the thread needs to include the metric or dashboard you are asking about to have context for the data it is analyzing.

Your user permissions determine the data and agents that you can access. Tableau Agent analyzes your question based on the data for the metric and other data in the semantic model that the metric or dashboard is built on.
