# Update Data Lake Objects with Excel and CSV File Refreshes

Keep your analytics current by replacing existing data sources with updated Excel or CSV files directly within the Data Lake Object. This streamlined upload process maintains your established data structures while ensuring users always work with the latest records.

Tableau Next automatically optimizes performance by selecting the most efficient processing method based on file size and columns. For more information, [File Upload Processing Modes and Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_data_upload_limits.htm&language=en_US).

1. Open the Data Lake Object for the table you want to update.
2. Click **Replace Data…**
3. Click **Upload File** and select your updated Excel or CSV file.

Important Files are limited to 10 MB for Excel files and 100 MB for CSV files for refreshes.
4. Review the data for formatting, columns, and that sample records appear correctly.
5. Click **Save** to update your existing data table.

- **[Re-Upload Excel Files Using Data Interpreter](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_data_interpreter_excel_refresh.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use the Data Interpreter during Excel (.xlsx) file re-uploads to refresh Data Lake Objects built from non-standard layouts. A built-in sheet selector enables you to manually identify specific sub-tables rather than relying on automatic matching logic.
