# List Parameter Example

You’ve been asked to create sales visualizations with several groupings, such as Region and Segment. You're going to reuse the existing visualization that you can update as grouping requirements change.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;"><a href="https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_editions.htm&amp;language=en_US" target="_blank">View supported editions.</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

1. Create a list parameter and name it GroupUpdate.
2. Type in the API names from the semantic model for Region and Segment in the Values column.
3. Type in Region and Segment respectively in the Display Name column.
4. Select Region as the Default Display Name.

Now, you’re going to create a calculated field for updating the visualization’s grouping.

1. Click **New** and select Calculated Field.
2. Set Field Type to Dimension and Data Type to Text.
3. Type Grouping in the Name field.
4. Here’s a syntax example for the formula field: `IF [Parameters].[GroupUpdate] = "Region" THEN [Superstore_Orders].[Region] ELSEIF [Parameters].[GroupUpdate] = "Segment" THEN [Superstore_Orders].[Segment]END`
5. Click **Validate** to confirm the syntax, then click **Save**.
6. Open the dashboard with the sales visualization and add a list widget.
7. Click **Add List** then Parameters.
8. Select the GroupUpdate parameter then save the dashboard.
9. Preview the dashboard and try out the list widget, which updates the visualization’s grouping.
