# Add and Configure a Metric Widget

Integrate real-time metrics into your Tableau Next dashboard for enhanced, data-backed decision making. Displaying KPIs visually enables users to quickly assess trends and track progress.

### Required Editions

1. Click **Metric** ![Metric widget](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-analytics-tua-264-0-0-production-enus/d794334f-d174-49d3-a4d2-a615bd2e54aa/tua/images/tua_create_dashboard_metric_2.png) and select an area of the dashboard.
2. Click **Add Metric**.
3. Choose a data source.
    1. Available metrics are listed for the data source, along with its attributes.
    2. Use the upper search bar to locate a specific data source. Use the lower search bar to locate an attribute.

4. Click **Select**.
5. Choose a metric and click **Select**.
6. Tableau Next adds your selections to the dashboard.
