# Tableau Next Exploratory Org

Tableau Next includes the Exploratory Org, an isolated environment designed to provide analysts with self-service capabilities.

### Required Editions

The Exploratory Org gives you a dedicated space for self-service analysis, allowing you to combine corporate data with your own datasets and discover unique insights. Within the Exploratory Org, analysts can incorporate their own data, utilize assets from other areas, and conduct analysis autonomously.

A Exploratory Org is distinct from the Tableau Next production environment (also referred to as the production org), which is a managed and governed environment. The Tableau Next production environment is the space where finalized and approved content is deployed. The production environment is controlled by administrators and is designed to maintain administrative control and governance over the data and analysis. It serves as the source of trusted data for various operations across Tableau Next and trusted spaces within your Salesforce org.

## Considerations and Limitations

For a general list of considerations and limitations of Exploratory Org in the Tableau Next platform, see [Tableau Next Considerations, Guidelines, and Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_limits_and_guidelines.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Considerations are factors to understand before working with Tableau Next. Guidelines define best-practice recommendations to improve your use of Tableau Next for optimal performance. Limits are boundaries beyond which features are unavailable or usage billing charges are applied."). The list here describes considerations and limitations that are specific to this version of Exploratory Org:

- Access to assets in a Exploratory Org is controlled by Sharing and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) that is set in the production environment. See [Data Governance and Sharing in Tableau Next](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_governance.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Tableau Next has a multi-layered access control structure powered by flexible Salesforce permission sets, Data 360 governance policies, and sharing settings on each Tableau Next asset.").
- You can give access to Exploratory Orgs to users with the permission sets Tableau Next Platform Analyst, or Tableau Next Self-Service Analyst . However, users with Tableau Next Consumer permission set cannot access or own Exploratory Orgs.
- We support a maximum of one Exploratory Org per user with a Creator license. The total number of Exploratory Orgs allowed in an organization is limited to the lower of: 100 or the total number of Creator licenses in the organization.
- Only users who possess a Creator license can be provisioned a Exploratory Org and have access to it.
- Exploratory Orgs are configured to only support the reuse of assets from the default data space. Similarly, any new assets you create within your Exploratory Org can only be stored in the default data space.
- There is currently no mechanism to move, export, or otherwise transfer content out of a Exploratory Org and into a production environment.

- **[Exploratory Org Capabilities in Shared Workspaces](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_po_capabilites.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
In Tableau Next, all of an analyst's data and resources reside within their Exploratory Org. This topic details the feature and function capabilities related to Exploratory Orgs when a workspace is shared with other analysts.
- **[Enable Tableau Next Exploratory Orgs](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_enable_personal_org.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Tableau Next Exploratory Orgs allow your analysts to experiment with data and create content in a dedicated environment. As an admin, use this process to activate the Exploratory Org feature for your organization.
- **[Create a Tableau Next Exploratory Org for an Analyst](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_create_personal_org.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A Exploratory Org is an isolated environment designed to provide analysts with self-service capabilities, reuse assets from other places, perform their work independently, and not affect other environments.
- **[Delete Tableau Next Exploratory Org](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_delete_personal_org.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
To remove a Exploratory Org when a user is offboarded or no longer requires access to Tableau Next, follow these steps. Deleting a Exploratory Org is permanent: it will delete all associated content and cannot be restored after the action is confirmed.
- **[Grant Salesforce Support System Admin Access to Exploratory Orgs](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_support_access_orgs.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Grant Salesforce Support temporary system administrator access to a Exploratory Org so that support staff can investigate and resolve issues. Control which Exploratory Orgs a support user can access and set an expiration date for that access.
- **[Review and Complete Asset Promotions from Exploratory Orgs to Production](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_review_complete_promotions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Analyst promotion requests from Exploratory Orgs appear in Task Manager in Tableau Next. Review the requested assets, choose a promotion flow, and complete the deployment.
- **[Promote Tableau Next Assets to Production Using the Salesforce CLI](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.tua_admin_promote_assets_cli.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Download a manifest from Task Manager, retrieve asset metadata from the source org, and deploy it to your production org using the Salesforce CLI and VS Code.
