# Enable Metric Insight Summaries in Tableau Next

Tableau Metric Insight Summaries give users a personalized overview of the most important insights from the metrics that they care about. The Metric Insight Summaries feature is built natively into Tableau Next and is independent of the Agentforce platform. The summary is generated based on the metrics that a user follows and is displayed on the Following page in Tableau Next. Only users with permission can access the metric summaries.

Tableau Next creates the insight summary differently, depending on whether Tableau Agent with conversational analytics is enabled or not. When the agent isn't enabled, insight summaries are created based on the metrics you follow (two or more required). When the agent is enabled, Tableau Next creates insight summaries using Agentforce (no followed metrics needed).") in Tableau Next.

## Enable Metric Insight Summaries

1. In Tableau Next, click **Administration**, and then click **Settings**.
2. Under General Settings, click **Tableau Next Features**.
3. Turn on **Metric Insight Summary**.
    
    When this setting is turned off, users still see descriptive and predictive insights associated with individual metrics. Insights that don't require generative AI or LLM are enabled by default and aren't affected by this setting.

## Assign the Follow Tableau Next Metrics permission set

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Users, and then select **Users**.
2. Select a user.
3. In the Permission Set Assignments related list, click **Edit Assignments**.
4. Select **Follow Tablea Next Metrics** under Available Permission Sets and click **Add**.
5. Click Save.
