# Use Source Report Charts in Dashboard Widgets

You’ve already charted data just the way you like in a report. Instead of re-creating the chart, use it in a dashboard widget.

### Required Editions

1. Create or edit a dashboard.
2. Click **\+ Widget** and select **Chart or Table**, or edit an existing one by clicking ![the pencil icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-analytics-analytics-264-0-0-production-enus/295fead5-b71d-4e1c-9886-4af4d53400b6/analytics/images/rd/rd_icon_pencil.png) on the widget.
3. From the Add Component or Edit Component menu, select **Use chart settings from report**.

The dashboard widget displays the source report chart. To customize the chart, deselect **Use chart settings from report** or edit the report chart.

Note Dashboard charts and report charts have certain differences. For example, report charts display more data points than dashboard charts. Dashboard charts are still subject to dashboard-specific limitations even when using chart settings from a source report.
