# Track Model History with Git

If your model folder is inside a Git repository, use version history features to track changes over time.

- View model history to see all commits that modified the model folder.
- Compare historical versions to see a visual diff between two commits.

Note

The model folder must be inside a Git repository for history features to work.

## View Model History

View the commit history for a model folder.

Right-click `model.json` or the model folder, and choose **View Model History**. The history view displays:

- All commits that modified the model folder
- Author, date, and commit message for each change
- The option to select any two commits for visual comparison

## Compare Historical Versions

Compare two commits to see how a model changed over time.

In the **Model History** view, select two commits and choose **Compare**.

The extension displays a visual diff showing changes between the selected versions. Use this feature to:

- Track who changed what and when
- Review the evolution of your model
- Roll back to a previous state if needed
