# Test and Validate Semantic Queries and Models

Test your model changes before deploying by running semantic queries against your org using local model definitions.

1. Right-click `model.json` and choose **Test Model**.
2. In the query builder, browse your model's fields organized by data objects.
3. Select dimensions and measurements to include in your query.
4. Click **Run Query**.
5. Review the results displayed inline.

The test uses your local model definition, including any unpushed changes, so you can verify your changes before deployment.

## Validate Your Model

Check your model against server-side validation rules before deploying.

Right-click `model.json` and choose **Validate Model**.

The extension validates your model against server-side rules and reports any errors so you can fix them before deploying. It also verifies you're deploying to the correct org; if there's a mismatch, you're prompted to confirm or switch orgs.
