1. In Data Cloud, on the Semantic Layer tab, select the option to [add or edit a submetric](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_filter_apply.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use submetrics to provide additional granularity and track more detailed performance indicators. A submetric breaks down the main metric into more specific, actionable data points.") in the Metrics tab. This lets you configure settings, including goals, for the chosen submetric. **New Goal** is the last step in the submetric’s Steps pane..
2. In the Set Goal pane, provide these parameters, and then click **Next**.

    | **Field** | **Description** |
    | --- | --- |
    | **Time Range** | Enter the period during which the goal is to be achieved. You can select a period from the list or specify both a **Start Date** and an **End Date**. |
    | **Goal Name** | Provide a clear name for the goal. This label is shown next to the goal when the condition is met and is used as a status. For example, use “Complete”. |
    | **Operator** | Select the operator that determines how the current metric value is compared to the goal value. |
    | **Value** | Enter the target numeric value for the goal. Enter the value in a format consistent with the metric's measure format. |
    | **Choose Color** | Select a color associated with the goal. This color is intended for use as the background color for the status label associated with the goal. This step is optional. |
3. The right pane shows a preview of the goal you’re creating.
4. To add thresholds, select a color, enter the threshold’s label, choose an operator, and enter a value. You can enter positive numbers, negative numbers, or 0 as values. Add up to five thresholds by clicking **Add Threshold**.
5. Click **Save**.

To add more goals, repeat the process.

Note A submetric can’t have two different goals defined with the same start and end date.
