# Develop with Tableau Semantics

Build, edit, test, and deploy Tableau semantic models as code, directly in VS Code.

Use the Salesforce Tableau Semantics extension for VS code to build and manage Tableau semantic models as code. Retrieve models from your Data 360 org as JSON files, edit them locally, visualize and test your changes, and deploy back to your org—all without leaving your editor.

- **[About the Salesforce Tableau Semantics Extension](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_about_extension.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Retrieve, build, edit, test, and deploy semantic models from your Data 360 org as code, without leaving VS Code.
- **[Set Up the Extension](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_set_up_extension.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Get ready to build semantic models by installing the extension and connecting it to your org.
- **[Create or Retrieve a Semantic Model](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_create_retrieve_models.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Get a semantic model into your workspace by retrieving an existing model from your org or by creating, extending, or cloning one.
- **[Semantic Model Folder Structure](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_model_folder_structure.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When you retrieve a model, the extension creates a folder with organized JSON files.
- **[Edit a Semantic Model](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_edit_a_semantic_model.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Edit your local model by modifying JSON files, adding data objects, or removing them.
- **[Visualize and Compare Models](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_visualize_compare_models.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Review your model visually with an entity-relationship diagram and compare local changes against the org version.
- **[Test and Validate Semantic Queries and Models](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_test_and_validate_model.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Test your model changes before deploying by running semantic queries against your org using local model definitions.
- **[Deploy a Semantic Model](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_deploy_semantic_model.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Push local changes back to your org. Before you deploy the model, make sure that you have saved all local changes.
- **[Track Model History with Git](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_track_model_history_with_git.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
If your model folder is inside a Git repository, use version history features to track changes over time.
- **[Work with Multiple Orgs](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_work_with_multiple_orgs.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
If you work with multiple orgs, set the default target org that the extension uses for all operations.
- **[Extension Commands Reference](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_extension_commands_reference.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P or Ctrl+Shift+P) or right-click files or folders to access commands.
