# About the Salesforce Tableau Semantics Extension

Retrieve, build, edit, test, and deploy semantic models from your Data 360 org as code, without leaving VS Code.

Use the Salesforce Tableau Semantics extension for VS Code to retrieve and build semantic models from your Data 360 org, edit them locally as JSON files, and deploy changes back to your org without leaving your editor.

The extension provides interactive entity relationship diagrams, query testing, and version control integration.

With this extension, you can:

- Authorize your data org directly from VS Code
- Retrieve semantic models from your org as structured JSON files
- Edit data objects, relationships, and calculated fields locally with autocomplete, formatting, and validation
- Visualize model structure with interactive entity-relationship diagrams
- Test semantic queries by using local definitions before deploying
- Compare local changes with remote versions to review differences
- Validate models against server rules to catch errors early
- Deploy changes back to your org with payload review
- Track version history and compare commits by using Git
