Note CRM Analytics MCP server is a pilot or beta service that is subject to the Beta Services Terms at [Agreements - Salesforce.com](https://www.salesforce.com/company/legal/agreements/) or a written Unified Pilot Agreement if executed by Customer, and applicable terms in the [Product Terms Directory](https://ptd.salesforce.com/). Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer's sole discretion.

CRM Analytics MCP server is a Salesforce-hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. With one OAuth connection, MCP-compliant AI clients such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT can discover your analytics apps, query datasets, and read dashboard metadata. You don't build a custom integration to expose that data.

For an overview of Salesforce-hosted MCP servers, see [Salesforce Hosted MCP Servers](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/hosted-mcp-servers/guide).

## Use Cases for CRM Analytics MCP Server

CRM Analytics MCP server supports business users, developers, and admins who work with analytics assets in an AI client.

- **Query data in natural language:** A business user in Claude or Cursor can ask questions such as "What were our top 10 accounts by revenue last quarter?" The AI client calls `list_datasets`, `get_dataset`, and `get_xmd` to understand the data structure, generates valid Salesforce Analytics Query Language (SAQL), runs it with `execute_query`, and returns formatted results. The user doesn't need to write SAQL.
- **Automate analytics reporting:** A developer building an internal reporting tool can pull dataset schemas and query results into custom applications. The AI client that uses MCP handles authentication and query generation instead of hard-coded SAQL.
- **Audit analytics assets:** An admin can inventory apps, datasets, and dashboards across the org with `list_folders`, `list_datasets`, and `list_dashboards` to build an analytics catalog quickly.

## Frequently Asked Questions

| Common Questions | Answers |
| --- | --- |
| What's MCP? | The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI models securely access data, tools, and context from specialized systems. CRM Analytics MCP Server uses the protocol to expose CRM Analytics discovery, schema, query, and dashboard tools to external AI clients. |
| Is CRM Analytics MCP Server secure? | Yes. Every request runs as the connected Salesforce user, so the AI client can see only the data and assets that you can see in CRM Analytics. See [CRM Analytics MCP Server Troubleshooting and Tips](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_mcp_tips.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Resolve connection and permission issues, and use prompts and practices that help AI clients query CRM Analytics data more accurately.") for how field-, object-, and row-level security apply, and see [External Client Apps](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/hosted-mcp-servers/guide/create-external-client-app.html) and the [PKCE extension](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.remoteaccess_pkce.htm&language=en_US) for authentication background. |
| Which orgs does CRM Analytics MCP Server support? | CRM Analytics MCP server is available in production, sandbox, and scratch orgs. |
| Are the tools read-only? | Yes. All tools are read-only. CRM Analytics MCP server doesn't support create, update, and delete operations. |
