# sliceDataset Parameters

Add a sliceDataset transformation to a dataflow either in the dataflow editor, or directly in the JSON dataflow definition file. The parameters you specify are the same for both methods.

To add a sliceDataset transformation in the dataflow editor, click ![sliceDataset button](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-analytics-bi-264-0-0-production-enus/ec791473-f5b4-4f64-a656-9104f455d966/bi/images/bi/bi_integrate_dataflow_editor_slicedataset_button.png).

To add a sliceDataset transformation in the JSON definition file, add a node and set the action attribute to `sliceDataset`.

This table describes the input parameters.
