# Extend an Existing Semantic Model with the CRM Analytics Metadata Bridge (Beta)

Use the CRM Analytics Metadata Bridge to add data from your CRM Analytics dashboards to an existing Customer 360 (C360) semantic model in Tableau Next, without changing the original model.

The extend flow is a guided flow that analyzes your most-used dashboards, compares them against an existing semantic model, and adds only the new data to a semantic model in six steps:

1. Semantic model selection
2. Usage analysis
3. Recipe and dataflow review
4. Data lake object (DLO) creation for new source objects
5. Data model object (DMO) mapping for new source objects
6. Semantic model generation

The extend flow saves your progress, so you can stop and resume at any time.

At each step of the flow, you control the selection of recipes, dataflows, and data objects, while the flow maps the data for you. The flow identifies data objects already covered by the selected semantic model and doesn't duplicate them.

The base semantic model isn't modified. The bridge creates a new semantic model that extends the base with the additional data you select.

After the bridge generates a semantic model, add field and object descriptions to improve AI readiness.

Note The bridge automatically resolves cycles in object relationships. You can't manually override cycle resolution. A cycle occurs when object relationships create a loop, such as Account → Contact → Opportunity → Account. Unresolved cycles make a semantic model unusable for queries.

## Limitations

The extend flow doesn't support these capabilities:

- Extending semantic models other than C360 semantic models.
- Modifying objects, fields, or relationships in the base semantic model. To change the base, edit it directly in the Semantic Model Builder.
- Extracting data from dashboard queries or widget-level metadata.
- Extracting CRM Analytics formulas as calculated fields in the semantic model.
- Extracting object descriptions into the generated semantic model.
- Generating granular field or object descriptions.
