# Remove a Template Reference in an Agent

Remove dependencies on a prompt template so you can safely delete or modify the template without breaking other components.

### Required Editions

1. For each agent listed, go to Agentforce Builder, and then open the agent.
2. Navigate to the subagent that uses the template.
3. Remove or replace the template reference.
4. Click **Save**, and then click **Publish**.
5. Return to Prompt Builder, and then repeat the steps to open the Delete Template modal.
6. Verify that no references appear.
7. Delete the template version, or update the template as needed.
