Note Beginning in April 2026, agent topics are now called subagents. There are no changes to functionality. During this transition, you may see a mix of the new and previous terms in our documentation.

To make changes to your agent, it must be in a draft state. If you want to make changes to a committed agent, [create a new draft](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_versions_draft.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create multiple versions of an agent to seamlessly iterate on your agent’s design. Create a version to experiment with different instructions, subagents, or actions and preserve your current configuration. Or create a version to save as a backup, so you can revert quickly.").

1. From the Agents list in the Agentforce Studio app, open the agent you want to add a subagent to.
2. From the Explorer panel, hover over Subagents and click ![Plus icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ai-generative_ai-264-0-0-production-enus/f8ef6498-d7b2-44e3-9b34-ffd5a850aae9/generative_ai/images/agent_builder_plus_icon.png).
3. Select **Add from Asset Library**.
4. Select one or more subagents to add to your agent.
5. Click **Add to agent**.

A copy of each of the subagents you selected is added to your agent, and you can edit this copy. Any changes you make to the subagent apply only to this agent version and don’t affect other agents or the subagent in the asset library.

If you use the Agent Router to control subagent routing and classification, each subagent you add to your agent is automatically added to the Agent Router’s reasoning actions.

When you add a subagent to an agent, customize the subagent for your business needs.

- Review and customize the subagent’s instructions and reasoning actions.
- Review and customize any agent actions included with the subagent, including the underlying flows, prompt templates, or other reference actions.
- If you use the Agent Router, specify any logic or instructions for routing conversations to the subagent.
