Note Beginning in April 2026, agent topics are now called subagents. There are no changes to functionality. During this transition, you may see a mix of the new and previous terms in our documentation.

Important Starting June 17, 2025, Agentforce (Default) will not include new features or improvements and isn’t available in new Salesforce environments. We recommend migrating to Agentforce Employee agent for continued enhancements and support. If you plan to transition to Agentforce Employee agent or make related license changes, complete the migration of your existing Agentforce (Default) agents in advance to avoid potential disruption in agent availability. If you can't complete the migration in advance, you can create new agents after the transition, which can involve some downtime. See [Migrate from Agentforce (Default) to Agentforce Employee Agent](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.migrate_agentforce_default_to_aea.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

- **[Set Up Einstein Generative AI](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.generative_ai_enable.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Set up Einstein generative AI to get access to powerful generative AI features.
- **[Enable Agentforce](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_setup_enable.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Turn on Agentforce to start building, customizing, testing, and launching AI agents.
- **[Select Agentforce Model Option](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_setup_select_model_provider.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
We recommend using the Salesforce Default model option for Agentforce, which enables Salesforce to select the best model mix for agent accuracy and performance. But you can choose an AWS-Hosted or Google Gemini model option instead.
- **[Access Agentforce Studio and the New Agentforce Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_builder_studio.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
The Agentforce Studio app is the home of the new Agentforce Builder and a central hub for building, testing, and monitoring your agents. By default, Agentforce Studio is available in the App Launcher to all users in orgs with access to Agentforce. Each feature within Agentforce Studio requires its own permissions.
- **[Create an Agent](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_setup_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Create intelligent, trusted, and customizable agents for your customers and employees.
- **[Define Agent-Level Instructions and System Messages](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.copilot_setup_system_messages.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Agent-level instructions provide your agent with guidance on how to interact in all situations, including any rules it should follow. Your agent sends system messages, such as welcome and error messages, when your users begins chatting with an agent and if they encounter system errors.
- **[Update Language Settings](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.copilot_setup_tone.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Change the language and tone of your agent’s messages to better suit your company’s brand.
- **[Versioning and Editing Agents](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_versions_lifecycle.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Learn about the different states of agents as you create and iterate on your agents, including editable states and how to version your agent.
- **[Manage Agent Versions in the Legacy Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_versions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Create multiple versions of an agent to make and test changes without taking the active version out of production. Or create a version to save as a backup, so you can quickly revert to a previous version. When you create a new version of an agent, Salesforce creates independent copies  of the agent's subagents, actions, and other assets. Every agent and agent version has its own assets, and assets aren't shared.
- **[Ground Agentforce in Data](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_parent_data.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A great agent uses your data to provide high-quality responses. Learn about methods for connecting agents to knowledge sources, including internal data, unstructured documents, and web search.
- **[Agent Memory](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_memory.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Agent Memory helps your agents personalize responses by remembering relevant details from your users' conversations. Use it to reduce how often your users repeat themselves and to help agents give more relevant answers over time.
