# Manage Your Agent's Memories Conversationally

Manage your memory preference and stored memories by talking to your agent, if you're chatting with it outside the Agentforce panel in Lightning Experience.

If you chat with an Agentforce Employee agent in the Agentforce panel in Lightning Experience, use the Memory & Preferences panel to manage your memory preference and stored memories instead. See [Manage Your Agent's Memories in Salesforce](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_memory_manage_salesforce.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Manage your stored memories in the Memory & Preferences panel in Lightning Experience. Choose which agents can create memories, view, search, and filter your memories, edit or delete inaccurate ones, and import or export memories as needed."). If you're chatting with the agent elsewhere, such as a messaging channel or mobile app, manage your memories conversationally.

If you chat with an Agentforce Service agent, you always manage your memory preference and stored memories conversationally, with no disclaimer or opt-in step.

Conversational memory management is available when your Salesforce admin adds the User Memory Management subagent to the agent from the asset library in Agentforce Builder. The subagent includes actions to retrieve and manage your stored memories, and to retrieve and update your memory preference. Ask your agent for what you need.

For example, ask your agent:

- "Remember that I prefer short meeting summaries."
- "Show what you remember about me."
- "Delete what you remember about my shipping preference."
- "Is memory enabled for me?"
- "Turn off memory for this agent."
